effective breakdown service for members.

Many local firms offer breakdown services on main roads and your
call will be transferred from the emergency phone.

Accidents
If you have a road crash in Spain
- Do not leave the scene of the accident until you have agreed
with the other party(ies) on the procedure (whether to call the
police or not)
- Make sure that the question of guilt is
clearly resolved. In cases of doubt insist on the appearance of
a guardia civil or police responsible for traffic (atestados) at
the accident scene.
- Insist that the other party involved show
you a valid insurance certificate. Many vehicles in Spain are
uninsured!
- Fill out the insurance forms at the
accident scene and describe in as much detail as possible how
the accident happened/what happened, so that you can answer any
questions the insurance company might have. You can write this
in English or another language.
- If you have an accident in which someone is
injured and you have a vehicle with non- Spanish licence plates.
your car will be impounded by the Spanish police until the
insurance company takes on the liability (decided by a judge).
