Standard analogue
connection (Línea Básica)
Telefonica puts in a telephone line, if there is not one
already installed and then connects you to the telephone network.
The basic package comprises:
• Answer-phone service (Contestador) • Call waiting
• Call diversion • Three-way call
Procedure
Call Telefónica’s Customer Service (Sales) number 1004 . You can
ask for the Servicio de Idiomas and speak to someone in English.
You will be told the various options with different types of
installation and phone models. You can also order the
installation over the phone. It normally takes about 10 days to
have a phone installed.
If you prefer to do it in person you can go to one of
Telefonica’s shops or the main office on Avenida Roma 143 in
Barcelona.

Installation
This normally takes no more than 2 hours if there are no
complications. There may be a wait of up to10 days between
ordering the phone and the installation
Basic connection: 2
communication channels (each 64 Kbps) which can be used for
speech and/or data transmission + a further channel (16 Kbps)
for additional multimedia connections.
The installation and operating costs are higher. Enquire with
Telefonica for latest details.
ADSL (DSL) Line (Internet)
“Broad band “(banda ancha) gives better and speedier access for
internet and for data transmission (up to 30 times quicker than
with a standard modem). It gives simultaneous connection to
several computers and to voice and data, so it is possible to
make phone calls/fax and use internet at the same time and to
connect different offices by modem..
Flat-rate packages
(tarifa plana)
There are many different offers depending on your needs (level
of use, timetable etc). The different companies advertise their
deals a lot on Spanish TV and also in the Barcelona newspapers.
The deals often include free installation and modem.
