POPULATION AND GEOGRAPHIC SIZE
Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia, a region of Spain to the north-east of the country. Barcelona has a population of 1.6 million inhabitants and a surface area of 100 square kilometers. The overall metropolitan area (made up of 33 municipalities) has 3.1 million inhabitants and is 585 square kilometres in size. 15% of the population are foreigners.
Barcelona is a compact city, it’s possible to get from any neighbourhood to the city centre in 30 minutes or less.
CLIMATE
Barcelona benefits from a typical Mediterranean climate with hot summers and relatively mild winters. Rainy days in Barcelona are scarce, 80 days per year maximum.
