Barcelona Real Estate Guide to Les Corts

Les Corts is one of Barcelona's most important financial and business districts, just a 15 minute metro ride from the centre of town. It is famous for its many universities, and of course it is home to FC Barcelona's incredible stadium, Camp Nou, the largest football stadium in Europe. The area is well serviced by the green line, and also by the Estacio Sants mainline railway station, which serves the airport as well as most of the popular nearby destinations such as Castelldefels and Sitges.

Although Les Corts is a thriving business and commercial centre, with large shopping centres and supermarkets, it also has some of the nicest gardens in Barcelona. Close by the FC Barcelona football stadia you'll find the Jardins de la Maternitat, the Maternity Gardens, where architecturally important buildings are surrounded by vast expanses of well tended lawns, flower beds and ancient trees. The gardens offer a welcome respite from the traffic and noise of the city, and are popular with locals who come to relax in the calm surroundings. Les Corts is also home to the Parc de l'Espanya Industrial, which celebrates the industrial history of Barcelona and intersperses green spaces with industrial elements which act as sculptures. Another popular green space is Parc Turó, which has many benches and a small café.

A 15 minute walk towards Montjuic will bring you to Plaça Espanya, with its fountain dotted street that leads up the hill to the impressive MNAC, the National Catalan Museum of Art, which hosts some very impressive exhibitions along with it's extensive permanent collections. On summer evenings you can enjoy the spectacular lights and dancing fountains displays, while enjoying a drink or snack at any of the many outdoor cafés.

Les Corts has a great variety of bars, restaurants, cafés, and even some nightclubs, of which Elefant is probably the most prestigious. It's certainly one of the most expensive! If you want to rub shoulders with the rich and powerful of Barcelona, dress up and arrive early.
