Barcelona Real Estate Guide to Sant Gervasi, Zona Alta
The neighbourhood of Sant Gervasi, also known as Bonanova, is
also part of the so called 'High Zone', or Zona Alta,
of Barcelona. A residential area, situated between Gracia
and Parc Turó, some of the most expensive property in
Barcelona can be found in Sant Gervasi. The area extends
from the Ronda de Dalt to the Avenida Diagonal. In Avenida
Tibidabo centennial villages can be found, nowadays
they have been converted into the head offices of businesses,
private schools or private clinics. Although it used
to be an area where wealthy families had grand out-of-town
homes, as demand for housing grew in the 60's and 70's
it was developed into a residential area offering upmarket
apartments with communal gardens, pools and parking.
The main street in this district is Muntaner which runs from the Diagonal to the Plaça de la Bonanova. It is here that we find some of the finest shops in the city, especially fashion shops, as well as bars, restaurants, company offices and fine buildings from times gone by.
Sant Gervasi is also the location for some of Barcelona's best hospitals and clinics, and almost all the best schools are located in or near this district. Children can walk to school, which makes it very popular with affluent local families. It is also well communicated with the centre of town by bus and metro.
